Sacred to the Memory
of ANNE EDENSOR
late beloved wife of
Richard Edensor of Hartington, Gentleman
eldest daughter of William Mills of Leek, Esquire and Dorothea his wife
who died [1] 10th September in the Year of Our Lord 1762
Aged 49.
To all
however many happened to have known her
and especially her own [2]
she left a sorrowful longing,
this woman outstanding in virtue
and greatly distinguished by her singular Piety towards God.
In fidelity & love
she was most closely bound to her husband,
both generous and prudent in household affairs,
to her family, most loving
to the poor, beneficent
to her friends she was loyal
and pleasant to all.
This memorial such as it is
her grieving husband set up
out of love.

[1] literally, "dying"
[2] i.e. her family
